I've just noticed (as a result of a discussion on our forum) that the Magazine tour schedule page doesn't include a show they did at Main Street Cabaret in Auckland, New Zealand, which would have been around Sept. 1980 - before or after the Australian gigs. It was an absolute stormer too, remember it very fondly to this day. All the best.

A rare bit of daytime Radio airplay for Magazine today on R2's Jeremy Vine prog as he played SBBS and gave a plug to the John McGeoch programme on Saturday night.

Anyone know whether the John McGeoch documentary will be available as a 'Listen Again' from the Radio 2 website - I'm going to a Panto so won't be able to listen to it live.

Just listened to the McGeoch documenatary on Radio 2. Good stuff, thanks Pete. I thought some of the music choices were a bit odd- none of JMcG's classic solos for instance- but a good listen nonetheless. The Dave Formula track is WEIRD,,,but in a good way of course. I'd love to think that this 'new' interest might motivate someone at Virgin to unearth some unreleased stuff- the Factory/ Russell Club gig for instance. I won't hold my breath though.

slightly disappointed by the programme... wished it had been longer & more in depth - liked Roddy Frame referring to him as 'an anti-hero' but there was no mention of his sax playing or that amazing technique where he'd end a solo with a feedback note an octave higher than the one he was playing... would like to have heard what TV music he was working on... sadly missed - never forgotten

Yeah, an hour wasn't really enough. Odd that they completely glossed over The Armoury Show period too. I did enjoy it, though I would say it was one for the already converted. If I hadn't known abot JMcG before listening, I'm not sure it would have motivated me to search for more about him. Nevertheless I appreciate teh effort that went into it.

March 31st - new Barry Adamson album - 'Back To The Cat' - looks like it's a studio version of the set of covers he played at QEH, London last November - can't wait

Just got round to listening to the documentary. Quite enjoyed it, particularly the comments from Johnny Marr and Dave Formula, who sounded genuinely emotional at times. Quite looking forward to his album now as well!
