Howard had a letter published in The Guardian back on August 20,which you may have missed. In response to an article by Alex Ross about the benefits of live versus recorded music a week earlier he wrote, 'Something is irretrievably lost when we are no longer in the prescence of bodies making music' (Guardian Aug13) True-ish.And if you're a musician or composer and you want a certain kind of career, modern music technology may stifle as much as offer opportunities. But as a consumer, you may be happy that, compared with what would have been on offer 100 years ago, recording technology is offering more than enough music, thank you very much' (signed) Howard Devoto London.

I wonder if any one has a copy of the John (Cougar) Mellencamp UK TV debut on OGWT circa 1981 shot on the Who's (A) stage at Pinewood (With a 'happy' Annie Nightingale). There are some interesting irregularities about this performance that I would be very happy to have
