Andy- it's often on E-Bay (Rockpalast, promos and whistle test on one DVD)- brilliant! flux on 17:39 17th-Mar-05 GMT #d30-33538 the news of a reformation is intriguing but slightly sad... i don't think Magazine left any business unfinished...if anything they should have quit after 3 amazing albums... but it's a shame, if they were going to get together again, they didn't think of it whilst McGeoch was still alive - irreplaceable in my view Howard used to say he'd never work with more than 1 ex-member at a time but i guess everyone changes their opinions - just please can the new guitarist learn the Light Pours riff properly (Robin Simon need not apply) Dave Candler @ on 17:39 17th-Mar-05 GMT #145-33540 That Robin Simon crack's hilarious! Seriously, I find it hard to believe that a reunion of Devoto with, say, Barry Adamson and Dave Formula (if, indeed, these are the former members we're daring to speculate on) couldn't produce new original material that was relevant and interesting. Should Buzzkunst be used as an indicator? By all accounts, Formula's kept his eye in in music, while, artistically, Adamson's hardly put a foot wrong since Magazine finished. Hey, maybe the 'new' Magazine is just Devoto with a bunch of fresh-faced grease monkeys. flux on 17:39 17th-Mar-05 GMT #092-33542 i agree, Dave C - Adamson's solo work is inspirational. Buzzkunst - well let's not even go there... demos that should have stayed at home... but if the original 3 are kicking NEW ideas around (and Formula's synths are kept lower in the mix than in the past) then i think everyone should be excited Pete Hendy on 17:38 17th-Mar-05 GMT #ecd-33543 During promotional interviews for Buzzkunst Devoto said that if the money was right and any takers out there he'd reform Magazine no problem. Maybe some sugar daddy's come along! I always have mixed feelings about reunions. Mind you, if they do I'll be first in the queue! Andy Battye @ on 17:38 17th-Mar-05 GMT #002-33544 Thanks SG,I will keep lookin on Ebay for the DVD,thanks for the info. I have a nice original Magazine glossy Virgin Records promo photo from 1978,if anyone would be interested in a trade for a copy of the disc. Please feel free to contact me at - Boycottfan@aol.com S-G on 17:38 17th-Mar-05 GMT #dd3-33545 Andy- Rockpalast (Magazine live in Germany) is on e-bay now but not with OGWT or promos. My copy has extremely blurred OGWT clips. Sorry I can't copy DVD's. I need to get into the 21st century really. Dave Candler @ on 17:38 17th-Mar-05 GMT #145-33546 If the money's right? By all means! A music biz friend here in New York told me that the current reunion of Magazine contemporaries the Gang of Four was directly inspired by the success of the equally influential Pixies reuniting. The Pixies sold out both sides of the Pond last year. Who could blame bands like Magazine and the Gang of Four, who are doing TWO nights in NYC in May, for stepping up to reclaim their legacy, not to mention finally getting the financial rewards they deserve? Gang of Four inspired Franz Ferdinand and The Futureheads, to name but two newcomers in this 'angular' movement, whose members are making s***loads of dough with a hijacked sound. With the right promotion, and at least talk of fresh material, a new Magazine would make a killing in the U.S. now.
