Thanks for that SG- very interesting. I'd have loved to have got down (from Manchester) to see bazza play live, but it just wasn't possible.

S-G on 11:34 17th-Jul-04 GMT #b5f-29696
Hi everyone Re Bridgewater Hall ...remember... (again). Does anyone know what the music was directly before Howard appeared onstage? Not the orchestral version of 'Love Will tear Us apart' which they played between most of the acts but some other music that was directly before his set. It sounded good. This has been bugging me for ages.

Neike @ on 11:34 17th-Jul-04 GMT [440.datavibe.net/noko/] #638-29697
I always assumed it was 'b-side material' from ShelleyDevoto. It sure sounded like that to me. It was far, far too electronic to be in relation to any of the other guys, anyway :D (It's been bugging me, too, I loved that, I want it... :D)

open mind on 11:33 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29698
can you hum it? that might jog our memories.

Phil Hartley on 11:33 17th-Jul-04 GMT #9f4-29705
Yes, I'm certain it was Howard's own stuff (possibly from the Buzzkunst recordings). It was good, though I recall it going on just a 'tad' too long for most in the audience. Deffo an 'I was there' night that one! ;o)

S-G on 11:33 17th-Jul-04 GMT #ebd-29707
Hi everyone. Yeah..I too thought it might be Howard's own music.

open mind on 11:33 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29730
therapy? once borrowed his drum machine.

open mind on 11:33 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29748
Noko did the answer machine instead. It was my idea too. No BT1571 in those days..

open mind on 11:33 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29771
heh dodge. fancy a game of tennis?

Neike @ on 11:33 17th-Jul-04 GMT [440.datavibe.net/noko/] #1a0-29799
So, is anyone going to harrass Shelley to tell us what that music was, and where we can get it? :D

over the border on 11:33 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29803
So Pete me-old-mate, tell all. surely not a re-arranged version of Parade(Formula/Adamson) mixed into Hound dog (Presley?)

S-G on 11:33 17th-Jul-04 GMT #790-29821
They played Hound Dog (original) in my local pub last night & I couldn't stop laughing.

Dodge727 on 11:33 17th-Jul-04 GMT #f7b-29845
Tennis? Hmmm I am still busy trying to figure out what 'i see in your eyes castles in spain means...'

open mind on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29870
i think you were probably right about the 'romantic' angle of those lyrics. maybe otb was being a touch synical

S-G on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #446-29879
Openmind....you are OTB??

Dodge 727 on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #f7b-29886
Yeah... open mind, you Over the border?

Dodge 727 on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #f7b-29887
Yeah, I decided that 'I see in your eyes, castles in spain' meant either his dreams, or the other preson's ambition as such....

over the border on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29888
'not up' is the call (when the player hits the ball twice).also foot fault anyway. Open mind confessed to his oversize racket ages ago.

open mind on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29890
open mind @ on 12:22 18th-May-04 GMT ref:#28490 I'll come back one day as Steve. open mind, dim no pen, chigley and retort drawoh are officially 'over the border'. heart beats up love

Dodge 727 on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #f7b-29891
Huh? So now I am more confused. Point for OTB and Open Mind. So now I have been shot by both sides

open mind on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29892
great smash just inside the line.

over the border on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29893
your game, but gamesmanship will not yield long term results.

open mind on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29894
that's rich coming from you otb!

open mind on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29895
how about talking Magazine?? any backhand returns...

Dodge 727 on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #f7b-29900
Good lyrics - 2 Points. That is how good songs get written, from ordinary experiences. Like the Chicago song 25 or 6 to 4. It is about him trying to write a song at 25 or 26 minutes to four in the morning. So he wrote a song about tying to write a song. Clever eh?

Dodge 727 on 11:32 17th-Jul-04 GMT #f7b-29901
Or.. my friends, who were making fun of certain new wave songs, decided to write a song about going to the store.....'I am going to the store.... going to buy milk and cookies.... I break the cookies on my face.... and pour the milk over my head..... but it's really not a waste.... cuz I break the cookies on my face...' Yes, songwriting can be that simple..

kafkas_unfulfilling_muse @ on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT [hem.bredband.net/cdorian/index.html] #370-29927
Been to Neike's Luxuria Shrine and left behind a few Devoto related gifts. It deserves more activity. Recently got the Shelleydevoto CD with the video on it for my BIRTHDAY.. yeah had to wait that long cos it's bloody expensive to import to Sweden via amazon. But anyway, clear headed and ready to keep posting, or sort of. Lets speak of recent lyrics!

open mind on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29929
otb, you mean kafkas. don't assume its neike just because you don't like what you read!!

kafkas_unfulfilling_muse @ on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT #370-29933
oh sorry it IS in fact a Magazine site... but yet doesn't Devoto figure into the equasion? Just an idea. Kafka's unfulfilling muse. Hej all!

open mind on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29934
mark radcliffe radio 2, just played shot by both sides. then said just what you'd expect (1978, bla, shelley, etc) nice one tho mark. also just mentioned jmcg death.

open mind on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29935
dodge, help me out here.. wanna go doubles vs nieke and kafkas??

Neike @ on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT [440.datavibe.net/noko/] #bd2-29937
Whoah, thanks, kafkasa - that was really nice of you! I'll see to incorporate those pictures ASAP. I've saved them to my HD for now. 'It deserves more activity.' - yeah, it does, especially from me, I neglect it far too much. Sorry to hear about the expensiveness, by the way. Glad you finally got the CD, mind! :)

Neike @ on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT [440.datavibe.net/noko/] #bd2-29938
@Dodge: Clever? Cheating. ;) Nah, that's not my serious opinion. In the end, it's what results - simple things, afterall, don't have to stay simple. The cookie thing is funny, by the way :)

Neike @ on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT [440.datavibe.net/noko/] #bd2-29939
@open mind: You seem to be mistaken. This isn't a Magazine website. It's a Magazine/Luxuria/Armory Show and involved-individuals website. Been that long ago that you read it, hmm? Back to school for you. ;)

S-G on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT #71b-29942
Hi all. Openmind/No dim pen/chigley et al...WHY do you use more than one name? Just curious.

S-G on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT #71b-29943
Kafakas My husband bought me the ShelleyDevoto CD two yrs ago as a wedding anniversary pressie. Oh dear... I ignored him all day as was watching Howard in his shorts and listening to the CD.

kafkas_unfulfilling_muse on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT #370-29944
SG I totally understand, those shorts! oh my!*smiles* Reminds me of what I was wearing back in 1996 in July in Chicago when I spoke to Pete, briefly and mentioned Howard.

S-G on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT #790-29946
What did he say??

S-G on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT #446-29949
Kafkas..just checked out your art site- very impressive & a great picture of Howard.

Dodge 727 on 11:31 17th-Jul-04 GMT #f7b-29951
Over the border Doubles is good idea.... S-G I think OTb, Open Mind, etc has more than one personality, and posts as whatever one he is. Hey, glad to hear this isn't *just* a Magazine site, I got here on a search for the Armoury Show.

kafkas_unfulfilling_muse @ on 11:30 17th-Jul-04 GMT [hem.bredband.net/cdorian/] #370-29952
-What did he say??-SG: I'll tell you! He rolled his eyes and said 'that was more than 20 years ago'...he was funny and he and Steve had more questions for me about Howard than I asked..you see I was trying to get their times of birth for some astrology study. LOL.. As far as my website goes its not completely finished but I posted it anyway; thank! :)

over the border on 11:30 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29957
hi dodge. doubles.. ok you (space or not between e 7) and me otb and om, (no help), vs nieke and kafkas and all the help they want. tennis rules. assuming we are playing i'll serve. if this is a foot fault we (we are partners) will take a 'let' and start again...PLAY (live lp)

open mind on 11:30 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29958
@open mind: You seem to be mistaken. This isn't a Magazine website. It's a Magazine/Luxuria/Armory Show and involved-individuals website. Been that long ago that you read it, hmm? Back to school for you. ;).....hey i'm about to serve, this is deliberate 'foxing' (gamespersonship). It says Magazine on the label, and ...

open mind on 11:30 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29959
It's Armoury Show. 'u' lost the first point.

over the border on 11:30 17th-Jul-04 GMT #0b3-29960
ok dodge, we got an ace. lets see what their serve is like... (you to recieve, good luck)

S-G on 11:30 17th-Jul-04 GMT #71b-29963
Kafkas...what do you think of the CD? The tracks I like best are 'Deeper' and 'Til the Stars in His Eyes are Dead'. You've probably alrady read this interview but if not it makes interesting reading. http://www.buzzcocks.com/shelleydevoto_blurb.htm
