Musings
Been lurking for a while before posting my view of said CD, as it seems that I go against the grain a little bit. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was boring, but I was a little disappointed - not least with the lyrics. Not quite what I've come to expect from HD - but maybe that's the problem? Things and people change and we can't expect a rehash of the same old stuff all the time. New time, new audience. You can't please all of the people etc... Ian Greaves on 13:29 1st-Mar-02 GMT #f2b-13044 Went to a preview screening of 24Hour Party People last night. Howard's bit crystallises the whole notion of trust in the film, which otherwise teeters on the edge of fogginess throughout the rest of the picture. The young guy playing the 1970s HD gets the voice right, but the mannerisms I'm not so sure about. Certainly worth seeing - due on April 2nd, IIRC. Kunst4ever on 02:14 2nd-Mar-02 GMT #9d6-13047 Does anyone find the lyrics on Til The Stars... a bit arrogant? If you want my interpretation Devoto seems to be poking fun at those who are interested in these modern feeling therapies. It'a a bit thick coming from a guy who sing about being lost in the age he is in... CMoS on 15:26 1st-Mar-02 GMT #d79-13048 2 page article in the Guardian 01-03-2002 Ian Greaves on 02:15 2nd-Mar-02 GMT #f2b-13049 Which one, Kunst? The Big Takeover one has been up there for a while, unles you're referring to the one with Johnny Rache which I got in my in-box this morning. Til The Stars is one of Devoto's earliest songs, adapted from a version written in the mid-Seventies. 'A sexistic boy having a world wide wank' is a rather splendid new line.
